SENIOR LIVING FOSTERS INDEPENDENCE

When the time comes for a new living situation, it can be a difficult transition and many people understandably worry about losing their autonomy. Many older adults prefer to live on their own, and are afraid of giving up that independence.

Independent living provides active, healthy seniors with the privacy and independence they desire, while still living in close proximity to other seniors. This allows them to socialize with other adults at the same stage in life, with lots of options for events and activities. Independent living at Camino also includes three meals per day, and the option for additional care, if and when a senior might need it. All of this is available along with their own private living space.

THE BENEFIT OF CAMINO INDEPENDENT LIVING

Moving to an independent living community can be a tough transition for many folks as they age, but planning early allows them to make their own choices. Often, seniors don’t make plans for care or retirement living until after a major health event. When this happens, they often end up having to rely on family to make decisions about their care and housing quickly. Planning ahead can give seniors more control over what life will look like as they age.

The benefit of Camino Independent Living is if you need to move to assisted living care, you can do so while staying in your same apartment. This is different than most senior living communities that would require a senior to physically move to a different part of the campus to access assisted living services.

We recommend visiting multiple communities, and picking the one that feels like home. Whether social scene, the activities, the neighborhood, or the overall feel of a place is most appealing, it’s important to go where it feels the most comfortable. Planning for independent living while approaching retirement allows for more flexibility, and prevents feeling like a burden on children or loved ones when it’s time.
